Bhupalpally: In a shocking incident in the Kannepalli village of Kaleshwaram mandal of the district, an 108 ambulance driver dumped a patient, who suffered a cardiac arrest, on the highway and sped off on Sunday.

According to reports, Shanigaram Bapureddy, a resident of Kannepalli village, suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday and was rushed to a hospital in Mahadevpur. The doctor, after examining the patient, asked the family members to take him to the MGM hospital in Warangal city. The family members immediately called a 108 ambulance and rushed to Warangal. However, after traveling for a short distance, the ambulance driver suddenly changed directions and dropped the patient near the highway and left the place.

The shocked patient’s family members immediately contacted Mahadevpur Primary Agricultural Credit Societies chairman Challa Tirupati, who was their relative and shifted the patient in his car to a private hospital in Warangal city. Later, Tirupati contacted the 108 ambulance driver, who told him that the District 108 Manager had asked him not to take the ambulance to Warangal as it was not their jurisdiction.

An angry Tirupati lodged a complaint with Collector Rahul Sharma and urged him to take action against the 108 manager and the driver.
