Hyderabad: The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TG BIE), which issued the admission schedule for the academic year 2026-27 on Monday, has mandated submission of an ‘anti-drug affidavit’ by both students and their parents during the admission process. Admission will be granted only if this document is submitted.
Telangana Gazetted Junior Lecturers Association president Vasukula Srinivas and general secretary Dr. Koppishetty Suresh sought clarity on the affidavit. “If an affidavit is required, people will have to approach lawyers and get it notarised. This process could create unnecessary inconvenience and difficulty for students and parents,” they said.
They urged the TG BIE to provide an easier alternative, such as allowing a simple written declaration from students and parents, so that they do not face any hardship.
Meanwhile, the first-phase intermediate first-year admissions will begin on Tuesday, and applications will be issued until May 31. While classwork will commence on June 1, the first-phase admissions must be completed by June 30.
Junior colleges have been instructed not to hold entrance examinations for admissions, which must be granted strictly on the basis of merit secured in Class X examinations.
Principals have been authorised to grant provisional admission based on online marks memos, with final admission confirmed only after submission of the original memo.
Further, submission of Aadhaar card details is mandatory for all students seeking admission. Students and parents have been urged to seek admission only in colleges recognised by the BIE. A list of such colleges has been hosted on the Board’s website.
