Hyderabad: BJP State chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar demanded an ex gratia of Rs 20 lakh to the kin of each of one of those killed in the recent rains and resultant floods in the State. He also urged the State government to compensate farmers adequately for the losses they incurred due to inundation of vast tracts of agricultural fields during the calamity.
Speaking to media after his visit to affected areas in Dilsukhnagar, Gaddiannaram, Banjara colony, Vanasthalipuram and other places in the Ranga Reddy urban district on Saturday, he said that he has observed that in many areas water tanks have been encroached upon resulting in the submergence of hundreds of residential areas. “Four acres of the six acre Bairamalguda tank has been encroached upon by TRS supporters. During the past six years hundreds of tanks and nalas have been encroached upon leading to this situation,” he alleged.
Demanding the Chief Minister to personally undertake a visit to the affected areas, he said that the Car party (TRS) will sink in the ensuing GHMC elections just like the 8,000 cars that sank during the deluge. He wanted the government to explain where the Rs 67,000 crore said to have spent for the development of the city have gone. He further accused the government of blaming the centre for all its failures. “While the State government demands Rs 5,000 crore from Centre for flood relief, it released mere Rs 5 crore for GHMC area,” he said.
