Hyderabad: The dual standards of Telangana BJP leaders, who went hammer and tongs, highlighting the necessity of farm laws, were exposed on Friday after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi repealed three farm laws.
These leaders went to the extent of criticising TRS for strongly opposing farm laws. But the same leaders remained silent on Friday after Modi while addressing the nation announced that these laws would be withdrawn.
In 2020 while interacting with farmers, State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that both TRS and Congress were against farm laws to derive political mileage. Welcoming the farm laws, he said the BJP led NDA government under the leadership of Modi was taking pro-farmers decisions and there was no need to oppose it.
He asked the party activists to create awareness about the laws in every village. At a separate press conference, he underscored the need to take up an awareness campaign at the polling booth level in every village and explain farmers about the benefits of farm laws.
Echoing the views of Sanjay, MP D Arvind said the Centre brought the new agri laws for the benefit of farmers.
At a press conference in December 2020, he sought to know as why the TRS supported Bharat bandh call given to protest against farm laws. Terming the agitation taken up by farmers as fake, Arvind asked as why the TRS was supporting the commission agents, who are agitating against farm laws.
“Corporates should purchase the produce from every poor farmer,” he said.
While interacting with party workers in February 21, Union Tourism Minister Kishan Reddy said the farm laws would not prescribe closure of procurement centres and alleged the opposition parties were making baseless charges on the BJP.
Appealing to agitating farmers in north India, he said the new agri laws would give more flexibility to them and there was no need for them to panic.
