Hyderabad: The Stamps and Registrations Department recorded a 1.93 per cent decline during the recently concluded 2024-25 financial year compared to the previous fiscal. Against a revenue of Rs 14,588 crore collected in 2023-24, the department generated Rs 14,307 crore in 2024-25 resulting in a decline of Rs 281 crore.

Pointing to the reported shortfall in revenue collections, former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao criticised the Congress government for its immature and hasty decisions which negatively affected Telangana’s growth and development under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s leadership.

He reminded that under the BRS regime, the department had consistently posted robust figures, registering an average annual growth rate of 25.62 per cent over a decade, excluding the Covid-19 period.

He attributed the downturn to the introduction of the HYDRAA, the alterations to the Hyderabad Metro Rail line plan, the Musi Riverfront Development project, and the cancellation of the Pharma City project as key contributors to the revenue dip.

“These decisions are proving detrimental to the State’s growth,” he said, warning that Telangana’s development momentum was being derailed under the current administration.
