Hyderabad: The State budget session will be held from March 16 to 30 this year, commencing with Governor Jishnu Dev Varma’s address in the Assembly on March 16.

This will be followed by the Motion of Thanks on the Governor’s speech on March 17 and 18. As Ugadi falls on March 19, Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is likely to present the annual budget on March 20. However, Ramzan is expected to be celebrated on the same day. As per the Telangana Government general holidays list, Ramzan is scheduled on March 21.

Decisions to this effect were taken at the Cabinet meeting held on Monday.

During the marathon Cabinet meeting, which continued for nearly six hours, it is learnt that the State government has decided on the complete takeover of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited from L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited.

Sources said the Cabinet has also decided to allot 70 acres for the construction of a JNTU College at Gummaduru in Mulugu district. This apart, the Cabinet has also approved the allocation of land for the construction of Congress party offices in different districts.

The proposal to allot 20 acres to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) at Khammam was also approved by the Cabinet.
