Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet will meet on Thursday to discuss key issues, including preparations for the upcoming Invest Telangana Global Summit–2026. Though the Cabinet is scheduled to discuss various other issues including certain draft bills, the prevailing drought condition, water and power crisis reportedly took a backseat.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will chair the official Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat at 4 pm, preceded by an informal meeting with Ministers at 3 pm. The informal session will focus primarily on arrangements for the investment summit, according to the government order issued on Wednesday.
The prominence given to the summit comes amid concerns over the drought and its impact on agriculture and rural livelihoods, apart from drinking water supply. However, the agenda details available for the Cabinet meeting make attracting investments and organising the summit a priority, with no specific reference to drought relief or measures to address the prevailing situation.
Officials confirmed that drought and other issues also will be discussed during the Cabinet meeting, but the Global Summit remained a top priority. The Congress government held an all-party meeting, but not a Cabinet meeting specifically focused on water and power crisis in the State.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Tuesday reviewed the proposed Cabinet agenda with senior officials at the Secretariat. He examined proposals and agenda notes received from various departments, including draft Bills, and reviewed arrangements for placing them before the Cabinet.
The meeting is also expected to discuss the progress of welfare schemes, new projects, filling vacancies and recruitment in government departments, and budget allocations. Proposals to attract fresh investments and allot land for industrial projects are among the other issues likely to come up.
