Telangana caste census staffers yet to get remuneration

Though they were promised that the amount would be deposited in their bank accounts after completion of the survey, it has not been done so far.

Karimnagar: Staff who participated in the recent caste census, have not got their remuneration even after five months. Though they were promised that the amount would be deposited in their bank accounts after completion of the survey, it has not been done so far.

As the State government decided to pay the amount through MPDOs, the staff is making rounds around offices. However, they are unable to get the amount deposited in their accounts as the government diverted the amount for other purposes, it is learnt.


In order to enhance BC reservations in the local body elections, the State government carried out the caste census in November 2024. Employees of various government departments, private agencies were involved in the survey held from November 9 to 24. A total of 3,171 staff including 2,864 enumerators, 287 supervisors, 20 special officers and 2,256 data entry operators were utilized for the purpose. Ward officers, bill collectors, field assistants, government teachers and mandal level officers took part in the survey.

Besides collecting the comprehensive information of each and every family in a specially designed form, the details were also uploaded on the website. The government had fixed different amounts for different cadre staff. While Rs.12,000 was fixed for supervisors, Rs.10,000 was fixed for enumerators, while data entry operators (private) were to get Rs 750. The amount was Rs 350 for contract operators working in different government departments.

The government reportedly sanctioned the amount after completion of the survey. The bank details of survey staff was also sent to the treasury in December to deposit the amount in their accounts. However, the process was stalled as the amount was diverted for other purposes, sources said.

As many of them are contract workers and working with private agencies, they are facing troubles as they carried out survey by spending money from their pockets for transportation and other purposes. So, they wanted the government to release the amount as early as possible.
