Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy assured that the Young India Physical Education and Sports University (YIPESU) will be inaugurated by the year-end of 2028.

Speaking at the Launch of Gachibowli Sports District, said to be a new era for Telangana Sports Excellence,YIPESU at Gachibowli Stadium, Mr. Revanth Reddy said the proposed University coming up on about 350 acres would stand testimony to the commitment and passion of the StateGovernment in giving sports the desired push.

“It is unfortunate that India normally figures at the bottom of the medals table in most of the international events. I feel this is because many Governments lack a clear-cut sports policy. That’s the reason our Telangana Government has brought out a comprehensive policy as we believe that ad hoc arrangements will not bring the desired results,” Mr. Reddy said.

“I also assure you that the YIPESU will not be a political platform. I assure there will be no interference from the Government and it would be run by a Board of Directors which has some illustrious names like Abhinav Bindra, Dr.P.T. Usha, Kapil Dev, Kavya Maran,” the Chief Minister said.

“It is great that Hyderabad will be hosting the Khelo India Games in November this year. And, we take it as a prelude to our dreams of hosting Olympics in future,” Mr Reddy said.

The Chief Minister appealed to the young athletes to focus100 percent on sports and you will be successful in life too.

“Take Ushaji as the inspiration. Because of her excellence in sports, she has become a Rajya Sabha MP and now the President of Indian Olympic Association. We all need such inspirational personalities to dream big and chase the goals,” Mr. Reddy said.

The Chief Minister also assured that all those who win medals at the highest levels would be given Government jobs and referred to out-of-turn postings for cricketer Mohd Siraj, who he said didn’t have the deisred qualification, Nikhat Zareen as DSPs.

“This Government is determined to give a new direction to sports and make Hyderabad the preferred hub for sports of the country itself,” he said.
