Sangareddy: Members of CITU staged a protest at Sangareddy Collectorate demanding the Centre to withdraw the four labour codes, which were introduced by the BJP-led Central government, with immediate effect.

The trade union leaders, who organised the protest as part of the nationwide strike on Wednesday, said the State government had issued GO 282 permitting industries to engage workers up to 10 hours per day, an increase from the previous 8 hours. CITU State president Chukka Ramulu said the four labour codes allowed the Telangana government to issue such GOs against the interests of the working class.

Earlier, the CITU members took out a massive rally as a mark of protest. Production in most of the industries came to a halt as the workers participated in the protest in huge numbers.
