Telangana: Class V boy attempts suicide to avoid hostel stay in Jagtial

A Class V student in Jagtial tried to commit suicide by running under a moving lorry to avoid staying in the school hostel. Alert locals rescued him, and the police counselled his father before returning the boy safely home.

Jagtial: A Class V student attempted suicide by trying to fall under a moving lorry in Jagtial town on Friday night, reportedly as he was unwilling to stay in a hostel.

The boy, identified as Annam Chaitan of Govindpally locality, is a student of Sri Chaitanya School in Jagtial. His father, Chandu, had admitted him to the hostel on Friday. However, the boy, unwilling to stay there, escaped from the premises and ran towards a lorry in an apparent suicide bid.


Alert locals intervened in time and rescued him before any harm occurred, and informed the police. Traffic SI Mallesham rushed to the spot and shifted the boy to the police station.

Later, police counselled the father and handed over the boy to his parents.
