Hyderabad: The Telangana State Public Health authorities in Hyderabad on Friday confirmed a Covid-19 positive case. This is the first Covid-19 positive case reported by Telangana following the recent steady rise of cases across multiple Indian States and countries like Singapore and Thailand.

“We should not be surprised by individuals testing positive for Covid infections, as this is the season for such cases to get reported. This year’s Covid is not equal to its earlier variants that triggered fatalities and severe morbidities. It is simply like a cold. There is absolutely no evidence that the present-day Covid infections are fatal. We are advising people to follow basic cough etiquette and that should be enough. People should not panic, as this Covid is similar to common cold,” Director of Public Health, Telangana State, Dr Ravinder Nayak said.

Senior health officials and doctors pointed out that any call on allocating exclusive beds and further strengthening of surveillance and testing for Covid infections will be taken only after the present situation of new Covid infections is reviewed at the national level.
