Hyderabad: It is not just the promises it made during elections that the Congress forgets. Even its own government’s first anniversary celebrations have apparently been forgotten in Telangana.

With Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other Cabinet Ministers caught up in campaigning for the Congress in the Maharashtra and Jharkhand elections, the State government’s Vijayotsavalu has been sidelined.

This apart, with people questioning enumerators of the caste survey about the six guarantees, the Congress is a bit apprehensive about large scale celebrations, according to party sources.

On November 9, the Deputy Chief Minister had announced that in the wake of the Congress government completing one year in the State, Vijayotsavalu would be conducted on a grand scale from November 14 to December 9.

It was decided that during the 26 day celebrations, special programmes would be conducted to showcase the welfare and development programmes taken up by the government.

This apart, awareness was to be created among the people over the implementation of the six guarantees.

However, save for a meeting on November 14 at LB Stadium, in which the Chief Minister addressed school children, no other major meetings were conducted till date.

This, party sources say, is mainly due to the hectic campaign schedule of the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues. On Sunday, the Chief Minister along with Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and a couple of MLAs campaigned in Bhokar and other places in Maharashtra. Similarly, Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao was busy campaigning at other places.

Bhatti Vikramarka is caught up in campaigning for the Congress in the Jharkhand elections. Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya was also busy campaigning for the party in Wayanad and Maharashtra.

On Monday, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar is scheduled to visit Chandrapur and campaign for the party in Rajura constituency.

Meanwhile, amidst the hectic schedules of the cabinet Ministers, a meeting has been arranged at Warangal on Tuesday in connection with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary.
