HYDERABAD: After the Telangana Congress online poll over the governance in the State backfired miserably, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud tried some damage control by saying that ‘manipulative surveys’ were being conducted.

The Telangana Congress had conducted an online poll on X using its official handle asking users to select which governance they preferred from among ‘Farmhouse Palana’ or ‘Prajala Vaddaku Palana’. However, most X users cast their votes in favour of the BRS governance, which the Congress social media wing had branded ‘farmhouse governance’, with more than 70 percent voters voting for the BRS governance.

However, admitting that the party’s social media team was weak, Goud said the team needed strengthening.

“People will not prefer farmhouse palana. Manipulative surveys are being conducted,” Goud said during an informal chitchat with media persons at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.

Further, with complaints pouring in from all quarters over the implementation of schemes in the State, the TPCC president said due to the ineffectiveness of a few officials at the ground level, many people were not getting benefits under different schemes.

He also assured that local bodies’ elections would be conducted only after increasing reservations. The caste survey has been completed successfully and the cabinet sub-committee will convene a meeting on the caste survey’s report on February 5.

Fearing an adverse impact on their political prospects due to the successful completion of the caste survey, the BRS and BJP were conducting false campaigns and creating apprehensions among people, he charged.

On the MLC Graduates and Teachers constituencies elections candidates, the TPCC chief replied that already the shortlisted candidates list was sent to the high command and it would take the final decision.

Stating that the two-member committee constituted on the Patancheru constituency leaders’ infighting was yet to submit its report, he said a public meeting would be conducted at Suryapet in the second week of February to be attended by Rahul Gandhi.

On the controversy over photographs of leaders in camp offices, Goud said as a leader who led the Telangana agitation, people would admire BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao.

“It would be good if all MLAs, Ministers, MLCs, and others put up portraits of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP chief Sonia Gandhi, and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in the camp offices,” he added.
