Hyderabad: Construction works for the new state-of-the-art State Secretariat will start on the auspicious occasion of Dasara and will be completed within one year. The Roads and Buildings department will open the Bids on October 16, speeding up the process.

Fresh tenders for the new Secretariat were called on September 14 following changes in design as per the advice of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao who found certain anomalies in the earlier design. Sources say that the Chief Minister’s valuable suggestions will give the new complex a much better elevation without any additional cost to the State exchequer.

As per the new schedule in the revised tender notification, the prospective bidders will have to submit tender documents between September 30 and October 13. The technical bids will be opened on October 13 evening and the price bids will be finalized on October 16. The Rs 500 crore new complex will be an amalgamation of historic architecture and modern technology reflecting the rich culture and tradition of Telangana.

Two large courtyards have been designed to boost ventilation and reduce carbon emission. Huge corridors and other spacious areas have been incorporated to keep the structure cool and allow air to circulate naturally, making it energy efficient. It has been designed to facilitate penetration of light and air in abundance.
