Contract-based assistant professors and teachers submit their resignations to an official at RGKUT-Basar on Wednesday.
Nirmal: Assistant professors and teachers working on a contract basis decided to tender en masse resignations to their jobs in protest against Government Order 21, at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge and Technologies (RGUKT)-Basar on Wednesday.
Submitting their resignations to the varsity authorities, the assistant professors said they could not discharge additional duties beyond teaching.
The teachers said that they played a vital role in the growth of the university by taking up various administrative responsibilities.
They regretted that their services were not recognised by the government. The professors said they were forced to resign from their jobs as their demands were not addressed so far.
They stated that the government did not respond to their pleas to exclude them from additional duties. They said the en masse resignations were the only way left for them to achieve their rights.
Leaders of the professors and teachers Upender, Krishna Prasad, Shankar Devaraj, Vinod, Manda Satish, Dr Vijay Kumar, Srisailam, and others were present.
Sources said that around 100 assistant professors and teachers have been working with the RGUKT-Basar since the inception of the institution in 2008.
Around 50 of them were involved in the administration of the university. They have been demanding that the government regularise their jobs and offer pay scales on par with lecturers in colleges.
