Khammam: A man and his wife were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their home at Kotha Kothur village of Nelakondapalli mandal in the district on Wednesday.
According to ACP Tirupathi Reddy, who visited the spot, the couple’s daughter, who lives away, called the tenants at her parent’s house to check on them as they did not respond to her repeated phone calls.
When the tenants checked the home, the couple, Yerra Venkata Ramana (60) and Krishna Kumari (55), was found dead. They also noticed that the home was locked up and chilli powder sprinkled all over the place.
Then they immediately called the police. On receiving information, the local police and clues team reached the spot and undertook a probe into the death of the couple. The ACP informed the media that ten days ago two unidentified women came to the couple’s home asking for a portion in the house for rent.
The women also visited the couple on Tuesday night and they were the prime suspects in the case. Given the fact that chilli powder was sprinkled all over the house the couple could have been murdered. During the primary investigation no property was found to be stolen, Tirupathi Reddy said.
Full details could be learnt after the couple’s daughter visits the village, he added. Based on the complaint of the couple’s son Naresh, Nelakondapalli police booked a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
