Hyderabad: The state health authorities here have said that are expecting a Covid vaccine for children to be available in the coming two to three weeks. The authorities said that under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHFW), extensive ground work is underway in Telangana to start vaccinating children, as and when the vaccines are made available.
“We are conducting special training programmes to roll-out the vaccines for children, whenever they are available to us. We are expecting two vaccines from Zydus Cadila and Bharat Biotech to be available for children between the age of 2 years and 18 years in another two to three weeks,” Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao here on Wednesday said.
There are nearly one crore children aged between two years and 18 years who have to get vaccinated in Telangana.
“The process of administration of vaccines to children and adolescents will be different from the existing one. Detailed guidelines on the protocols to administer the vaccines for children will be released by MOHFW,” he said.
