Man held for cheating job aspirants in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Nacharam police arrested a man on charges of cheating people promising government jobs and government double-bedroom houses.


G Abhishek from Padmaraonagar collected huge money from job aspirants and people who applied for government allotted houses and cheated them giving fake appointment letters.

Based on a recent complaint, the Nacharam police booked a case and arrested Abhishek.

Similar cases were booked against him in Chandanagar and Korutla police stations.

He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.

Collection agent held for theft, Rs 6.4 lakh recovered

Hyderabad: The Task Force (South) team along with the Shahalibanda police nabbed a collection agent on charges stealing Rs 7 lakh collected from various jewellery shops at Siddiamber Bazaar on Thursday. Officials seized Rs 6.4 lakh cash.

The arrested person, Mohd Afsar (45), a collection agent from Falaknuma, as part of his routine, went to Siddiamber Bazar and collected an amount of Rs 7 lakh from various jewellery shops and the amount was to be handed over to his employer at Shahalibanda.

However, instead of remitting the amount, he escaped along with the said amount to settle his debts.

On a tip-off, the Task Force along with Shahalibanda police nabbed him and recovered Rs 6.4 lakh from him.

Cops seize 1.5 kg marijuana, arrest two

Hyderabad: The Chandanagar police caught two persons on charges of smuggling marijuana and seized 1.5 kgs of the contraband from them on Thursday.

Police said Harinath (24) and Shivaji (25) from Papireddy Colony in Chandanagar procured marijuana from local dealers in Parli in Maharashtra and smuggled in into Hyderabad. They further sold it to consumers here at higher rate and made easy money.

ACB holds surprise raids at Burgampadu sub-registrar office

Kothagudem: ACB officials conducted surprise searches at the sub-registrar office, internet and photocopy centres at Burgampadu mandal headquarters in the district on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, ACB Khammam range DSP Y Ramesh said that there had been many complaints of irregularities at the sub-registrar office. During the searches, it was found that some unauthorised individuals were involved in the sub-registrar office affairs.

Some irregularities were found including UPI transactions made by private individuals. After a complete investigation, a detailed report would be submitted to the authorities for further action, the DSP said.

The ACB DSP appealed to the public to contact ACB toll-free number-1064 or the official mobile number-91543 88981 to lodge complaints regarding corruption in government offices. The details of the complainants would be kept confidential, he added.

Man killed by brother over property dispute in Chandrayangutta

Hyderabad: A man was killed by his brother allegedly over a property dispute at his house at Barkas in Chandrayangutta on Thursday.

The brothers, identified as Salaam Bafana (40) and Mohsin Bafana, had been having frequent fights over their share in ancestral property.

Even on Thursday, the two are suspected to have had arguments over the same, after which Mohsin attacked Salaam with weapons.

Salaam, who suffered grievous bleeding injuries, died on the spot. Mohsin fled from the spot.

On receiving information, the Chandrayangutta police visited the spot and the CLUES team collected samples. The body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy.
