Hyderabad Police seize Rs 2 crore in old currency, four held
Hyderabad: The Task Force (East) team reportedly caught four persons on Monday for illegal possession of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 Indian currency notes following the demonetization.
According to police, the suspects were attempting to exchange old currency for new notes on a commission basis. About two leather bags containing multiple bundles of old notes, estimated to be worth around Rs 2 crore, were seized from their possession.
Acting on a tip-off, police first apprehended two individuals near Shanthi Theatre in Narayanaguda. Based on their confession, two others were later caught near the Water Board office in the vicinity, and additional old currency notes were seized.
Authorities are investigating the money trail to identify both the sender and the final receiver of the illegal currency.

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Beerappaguda, Uppal, on Monday, police said. Family disputes are suspected to be the reason.
The deceased, D Mahender, worked as a water technician at a company in Ranigunj. He was married about two years ago, and his wife works as a nurse at a private hospital in Uppal.
According to police, Mahender had been upset over personal issues and ongoing family disputes for several days. He reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his room.
The Uppal police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
________________________________________ Car hits motorcycles near Shaikpet flyover, three injured
Hyderabad: A rashly driven car lost control and collided with several motorcycles before crashing into another bike near the Shaikpet flyover on Monday, injuring three people.
The car driver fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Tolichowk police are investigating and examining footage from nearby surveillance cameras to identify and apprehend the driver, who has been identified as Sunil. Authorities said there were four persons in the car at the time of the accident.

Jagtial: The body of Katipalli Srikar Reddy (29), who went missing in the SRSP canal, was recovered on Monday near Thatipalli in Jagtial rural mandal, 13 days after the incident.
Srikar Reddy went missing on August 27 when a tractor carrying a Ganesh idol accidentally plunged into the SRSP canal near Peddapur in Metpalli mandal. Despite continuous search operations with the help of professional swimmers, his body was not found until Monday.
Srikar Reddy is the son of former ZPTC Katipalli Radha.
________________________________________ Khammam Police arrest two burglars, recover stolen property worth Rs 16 lakh
Khammam: Khammam two-town police have arrested two burglars and recovered stolen property valued at Rs 16 lakh. Speaking to the media on Monday, Khammam town ACP SV Ramana Murthy said the accused were caught during vehicle inspections near the new bus stand in the city.
The accused, Challa Venkateshwarlu, a car driver from Mustafa Nagar in Khammam, and D Mahesh from Bhadrachalam, reportedly committed 26 thefts across multiple police station limits in Khammam city, Bonanal, Kamepally, Vemsoor, Enkoor, Sathupally, and Kothagudem three-town limits.
Recovered items included gold ornaments worth Rs 13 lakh, 500 grams of silver ornaments, electronic items valued at Rs 35,000, and two motorbikes worth Rs 2 lakh, the ACP added.
