Telangana: Crops withers in Ankampet, Sitharampally in Siddipet
Since the irrigation department failed to impound water in Ankampet lake from River Godavari this yasangi, farmers said that the crops in hundreds of acres withered out in these two villages
Siddipet: BRS leaders visited several agriculture fields which went dry at Sitharampally and Ankampet villages in Siddipet rural mandal on Friday as part of party’s “console the farmer” programme.
Since the irrigation department failed to impound water in Ankampet lake from River Godavari this yasangi, farmers said that the crops in hundreds of acres withered out in these two villages.
BRS leader Chandar Rao said that the irrigation department and official machinery were not mitigating suffering of the farmers. He said that the government did not respond to the issues of farmers here though they staged a ‘rasta roko’ a few days ago, demanding the release of water into tank.
Another leader L Prabhakar Varma demanded the government to carry out crop enumeration to identify the crops that withered out due to lack of water, to compensate them. He warned that they would carry out protests if the government failed to respond on the issue.
Kishan Reddy, former president of sarpanch’s forum, said that the Congress government failed to implement loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa. Party leaders Tirupathi, Hamsakethan Reddy, Dasratham, Prasanth, Rajashekhar Reddy and others were present.
