Telangana: Debt-ridden woman burgles brother’s house
Probe revealed that the burglary at Sreekanth’s house in Gajularamaram was orchestrated by his sister, who is addicted to online betting and casino apps

Hyderabad: A woman, who lost money in online betting and burgled her brother’s house with the help of her friends to clear debts, was arrested by the Jagadgirigutta police on Thursday.
On July 5, Sreekanth, a resident of Shirdi Hills in Gajularamaram went to attend a function at his parents’ house in Karmanghat. On returning, he found the house burgled and lodged a complaint.
Investigation revealed that the burglary was orchestrated by his sister, who resides with their parents and has been addicted to online betting and casino apps, incurring debts of around Rs 5 lakh.
“Taking advantage of the family’s absence, the woman who had earlier stolen the house key from her sister-in-law’s hand bag, broke into the house and stole cash, gold and silver with the help of her two friends,” said a police official. Part of the stolen gold was pledged to clear her debts.
The CCTV footage helped trace their movements, and all three were arrested and remanded.
