Hyderabad: Director-General of Police M Mahendar Reddy here on Tuesday underscored the need to create awareness among students about cyber laws.

Participating in the third edition of Cyber Congress organised by the Women’s Security Wing (WSW) here, he said once the children undergo training on cyber laws, they can, in turn, educate people in rural areas. “It’s an opportunity for the children to know more about cyber laws,” he said, and complimented the WSW Additional Director-General of Police Swati Lakra and DIG B Sumathi for organising the programme for the benefit of students.


As many as 850 students from 1650 schools across the State attended the programme. Officials said the initiative would enable the selected children to be aware and get educated to deal with cyber issues pertaining to the safety of women and children in continuous sessions and activities for 10 months.

Officials said the objective was to make the children cyber ambassadors of SHE teams of Telangana. “We are organising the programme with assistance of the education department in coordination with an NGO Youngistaan Foundation and cyber experts,” they said.

“It’s one of its kind event where a sustained community initiative is taken up by the WSW to make youth as enablers in making cyber space safe for “her” by being the mouthpiece for SHE team,” they said. Panchayat Raj Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, School Education Director A Sridevasena and others were also present.
