Telangana DGP visits injured DCP, gunman after Koti robbery incident

Hyderabad: The Telangana Director General of Police, B Shivadhar Reddy, on Sunday visited Yashoda Hospital and enquired about health of S Chaitanya Kumar, DCP (southeast) and his gunman VSN Murthy.
The DCP and his gunman were injured when they attempted to apprehend a robber, Omar Ansari, who was escaping along with his two associates after snatching a mobile phone at Koti. However, the police team managed to nab Omar Ansari after opening fire with their service weapon. He suffered two bullet wounds and collapsed.
“Chaitanya and Murthy did a daring job. They are a role model for the other officials of the police department,” Shivadhar Reddy said.
He said the official and the gunman are recovering and are expected to be discharged on Monday from the hospital. In regard to the arrest of the other two associates of Omar Ansari, the DGP said they will be caught soon. “Special teams are working to track them down,” he added.
