Dubai: The Telangana diaspora community celebrated State Formation Day with enthusiasm across the Arabian Gulf region, reflecting on the State’s journey since its formation under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao. The usually vibrant celebrations were visibly low-key this year compared to previous years due to prevailing tensions in the region. Nevertheless, the enthusiastic Telangana community commemorated the occasion recently.

Dubai-based ETCA, a Telangana cultural organisation, celebrated the event in Ajman, where Telangana political analyst V Prakash narrated the Statehood struggle under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao. Peechara Kiran Kumar, president of ETCA, recalled the sacrifices made by the people of Telangana under the guidance of KCR. Prominent community members from Dubai and other emirates participated in the event.

In Oman, Oman Telangana Samiti (OTS), a Telangana NRI organisation functioning under the aegis of the Indian Embassy, held celebrations at the Indian Social Club in the capital, Muscat. “Whether at home or in any part of the world, the hearts of Telangana people beat for their homeland,” said Nune Laxman Yadav, president of OTS. “Telangana is a true reflection of Ganga Jamuna Tahzeeb,” commented chief guest Sohail Khan, president of the Indian Social Club.

In Bahrain, Telangana Kala Samiti, the only officially recognised expatriate organisation for the Telugu community by local authorities, celebrated the event with NRIs from both Telugu States participating. “Telangana was achieved through an unbreakable spirit of self-respect,” commented Venkata Swamy, a senior community member. Telangana Cultural Association (TCA), an exclusive Telangana NRI organisation, also held separate celebrations, which were attended by a large number of community members living in Bahrain.

In Qatar, Telangana Gulf Samiti (TGS) celebrated the occasion in collaboration with ICC, where senior diplomat Eish Singhal attended as the chief guest. Madhu Maydam, president of TGS, presided over the function, where the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Telangana were showcased through various cultural performances. Nandini Abbagoni of ICC coordinated the event.
