A 29-year-old woman, Prasanna Lakshmi, who was a software professional in Bengaluru, ended her life by hanging herself with a sari from the ceiling fan at her maternal home in Pochammavada of Jagtial town
Jagtial: A 29-year-old woman, Prasanna Lakshmi, who was a software professional in Bengaluru, died allegedly by suicide in Jagtial on Thursday night. Harassment by her in-laws is suspected to be the reason for the extreme step.
She ended her life by hanging herself with a sari from the ceiling fan at her maternal home in Pochammavada of Jagtial town. She left a suicide note on the mirror asking her parents to take care of her son.
According to the police, Lakshmi married Thirupathi from Ramnur of Velgatoor mandal in 2023 and the couple has a one-year-old son.
Both of them used to work as software engineers in Bengaluru. While Thirupathi was working, Prasanna Lakshmi resigned from the job after their son was born.
Her parents, who promised to give Rs 55 lakh dowry, handed over Rs 10 lakh to Thirupathi at the time of marriage and assured to give the remaining amount after selling their land.
There were arguments between the couple as her in-laws were allegedly harassing her for the remaining dowry amount. The couple came to Ramnur six days ago.
Before ending her life, she wrote a suicide note on the mirror which said, “Sorry Mummy & Daddy. I am not interested in living. Take care of my son. Do not give him to them (in-laws)”.
