Telangana EAPCET 2026 registrations dip by nearly 17,000
Registrations for TG EAPCET 2026 fell by nearly 17,000 compared to last year, with 2,89,974 candidates applying before the no-late-fee deadline. Officials attribute the decline to the scrapping of the non-local quota for Andhra Pradesh students.

Hyderabad: The registrations for the Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (TG EAPCET) 2026 slumped by nearly 17,000.
As many as 2,89,974 candidates applied as the last date to register without a late fee concluded Saturday, which was 16,867 fewer applications than last year when total registrations stood at 3,06,841.
One of the reasons for drop in applications is attributed to scrapping of the non-local seats quota for Andhra Pradesh students for admissions to colleges in Telangana.
“Last time, there was no clarity on non-local quota admissions in Telangana till the last moment. With the government already clearing the issue last year, this time, Andhra Pradesh students did not apply for TG EAPCET as they knew that they could not get an admission in Telangana colleges. This resulted in a drop in applications,” an official said.
Of the total, 2,03,167, including 1,14,911 boys and 88,256 girls, applied for the engineering entrance test, and 86,523, including 66,238 girls and 20,285 boys, applied for the A&P stream. Similarly, 284, with 173 girls and 111 boys, submitted their applications for both the streams.
The last date to register with a late fee of Rs. 250 and Rs. 500 is April 10 and 15 respectively. Registrations can be done with a late fee of Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 5,000 till April 20 and 24 respectively. Candidates can also apply with a late fee of Rs.10,000 between April 25 and May 2.
“We are expecting a slight increase in applications after the conclusion of the JEE Main session 2 on April 8. Students who are not confident of cracking the JEE Main will opt for the TG EAPCET,” the official said.
The TG EAPCET will be conducted from May 4 to 11, with the A & P test scheduled for May 4 and 5, and the engineering entrance test is from May 9 to 11. Hall tickets will be made available for download from April 27.
