Hyderabad: The Economically Backward Classes Welfare Association (EBCWA), Central Committee, on Sunday demanded the Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy to immediately clarify the stand of the Congress Government over providing reservations to poor among the forward castes under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

The national president for EBCWA, Central Committee, Vallapureddy Ravinder Reddy in a statement criticized the Congress-led government for keeping quiet and not giving clarity on the issue.

“The Supreme Court has supported the 10 percent reservation under EWS for the poorest of the poor among forward castes. There is an urgent need for the Congress-led government in Telangana to come clean on this issue and take a clear stand. People who are opposing reservations for poor in upper caste under EWS, must realize that poverty impacts people of all castes and religion,” he said.

“We want to know why the Congress government and Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy are shying away from this issue. If the Congress party continues to delay or procrastinate in giving a clear picture on this issue, we along with other major associations in the country will launch a major agitation,” he added.
