Hyderabad: The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) on Wednesday asked the Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, to put on hold the registration and distribution of relief to flood-affected families in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits till declaration of the GHMC election results.
In an urgent communication addressed to the Principal Secretary, SEC Secretary M. Ashok Kumar asked the government to put on hold the registration and distribution of relief as it was “attracting the Model Code of Conduct” and was “likely to influence the electors”.
With the issue of GHMC election notification, the Model Code of Conduct came into force from Tuesday and will be in force till declaration of election results, he said.
