Siddipet: Villagers of Erravally, a village that was adopted by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, have elected all their eight ward members and sarpanch unanimously, in what is being seen as the villagers’ gift to the BRS president in return for the development he brought about in the village.
Though there were two panels in the fray, both from the BRS, leaders in the village sat out and sorted out the differences between them. While one panel was led by former sarpanch Bhagya Balaraj, another panel was led by senior BRS leader Kavitha Rammohan Reddy. Since the village witnessed overwhelming development during the 10 years of Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule, the villagers said they wanted to make the election a no-contest. All eight ward members were also elected unanimously. Election officials, however, will present them with the election certificate later, only as per rules.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhagya Balaraj said they had decided to give the opportunity to Kavitha Rammohan Reddy this time since there was a chance for one person to become a sarpanch. Kavitha thanked the villagers for the opportunity and assured to put all out efforts for the development of the village. All the villagers are expected to meet Chandrashekhar Rao shortly.
