The Telangana Assembly Ethics Committee deferred its decision on Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and asked him to submit his explanation by October 7. The panel will reconvene on October 8 after providing requested raw video footage.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly Ethics Committee on Wednesday deferred a decision on Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, asking him to submit his explanation by October 7 and deciding to reconvene on October 8 for further proceedings.
The meeting, chaired by Revuri Prakash Reddy, lasted for around one-and-a-half hours and discussed Kaushik Reddy’s reply on the issue pertaining to his conduct in the House, including an altercation involving defected BRS MLA Kadiyam Srihari. However, MLA and former Deputy Speaker T Padma Rao Goud, who appeared on behalf of the BRS, insisted that the raw video footage of the incident be provided for examination.
Accordingly, the committee decided to provide the requested footage of the incident to the BRS MLA for examination and directed the officials concerned to provide it to the BRS legislator by Thursday evening. The MLA had sought six weeks to respond, contending that he needed the footage before submitting his reply. However, the committee decided to give him a week to submit his reply.
Speaking to the media, Kaushik Reddy criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over his visit to inaugurate the Karimnagar Collectorate built during the previous BRS government, after claiming to wipe out former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s legacy in the State. He termed Revanth Reddy a ribbon-cutting Chief Minister who was inaugurating projects and buildings completed during the previous BRS rule and sought to know about his contribution to the project.
Kaushik Reddy alleged that the Congress was struggling to mobilise people for the Chief Minister’s Sircilla meeting and stated that people were being brought from other districts. He also demanded the release of the second instalment of Dalit Bandhu funds for Huzurabad and Rs 1,000 crore for development works in his constituency.
