Nirmal: Finance minister T Harish Rao asserted that newly formed Telangana was excelling in many fields, but Opposition parties were making meaningless statements. He was speaking at a meeting of activists and members of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) held in Mudhole mandal centre on Thursday.
Harish Rao, who was on a two-day long tour to erstwhile Adilabad district, initially visited the ancient Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devastnam of Basar. He performed special prayers to the presiding deity of the shrine. He was welcomed by Forest minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy and Mudhole MLA and priests of the temple.
Addressing cadres of the party in Mudhole, Harish Rao narrated initiatives and developmental works taken up by the State government. He cited Kalyana Laxmi, Raithu Bhandhu, Aasara pensions, free power supply to the agriculture sector. “Can any of these schemes be found in states ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)? Is neighboring Maharashtra extending some of these initiatives?” he questioned.
However, both the BJP and Congress would always target the State. Leaders of these parties should debate over development and welfare schemes implemented in Telangana. “Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is providing round the clock uninterrupted power to the agriculture sector. Why is electricity not given for free in Gujarat, native state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi?” he asked.
The minister wondered whether religious structures were developed in the regime of the BJP which always chanted patriotism. In fact, the union government was making false promises and was causing financial burden on the citizens by hiking prices of fuel, LPG and fertilizers at regular intervals. He alleged that it duped Telangana by not procuring paddy produce of Yasangi season.
Harish accused the BJP of gaining political mileage by creating conflicts among religions. He stated that while Telangana was standing in the third spot in offering better quality medical services to the poor, Gujarat was in the bottom position. He claimed that the fifteenth finance commission lauded Telangana for rendering outstanding services during Covid-19 pandemic. He predicted that prices of fuel and LPG would go up once elections to Legislative Assemblies of five states get over.
