Narayanpet: A farmer was attacked and dragged into River Bheema by a crocodile at Kusumurthi village here on Saturday afternoon.

G Tippanna and Shivappa Gouda were making water supply arrangements in the paddy fields. After Shivappa switched on the water pump, they noticed that water was not getting pumped to the fields.

Tippanna wanted to clear the dust and trash that could have blocked the foot valve and got into the water. The crocodile, which was in the water, immediately attacked Tippanna and dragged him into the deep waters, Shivappa was quoted as saying by local media.

The villagers also noticed the crocodile dragging Tippanna into the river. As the location where the foot valve was dropped was deep, the villagers urged a few fishermen to rescue Tippanna, but their efforts did not pay off.

Tippanna’s family members were waiting on the shore, the reports said.
