Medak: Fed up with drunkards spoiling his mango orchard by breaking glass liquor bottles after consuming alcohol, a farmer put up a flexi banner at his farm, issuing a stern warning to those partying on his land.
The farmer warned that anyone entering his orchard for liquor parties should be prepared to receive 25 slaps with his chappal, besides paying a fine of Rs 5,000.
The farmer, Anand, owns a mango orchard located along a busy road at Brahmanapally in Narsapur mandal. However, people passing through the area had turned the orchard into a stopover for liquor parties. After purchasing alcohol in Narsapur town, they would walk straight into the farm to consume it.
What angered the farmer was that the drunkards were damaging the orchard by breaking beer and whisky bottles after drinking under the trees. They were also dumping waste indiscriminately. Farm workers have sustained injuries on several occasions after stepping on broken glass bottles.
Despite repeatedly warning the drunkards, they failed to mend their ways, forcing Anand to put up flexi banners along the boundary of his farm. Some locals captured photographs of the banner and shared them on social media, where they quickly went viral.
Whether the drunkards will change their behaviour after this warning remains to be seen, with the farmer awaiting the outcome.
