Narayanpet: Farmers in Makthal and neighbouring areas are up in arms against the State government’s plans to acquire their lands for the Narayanpet-Kodangal Lift Irrigation scheme.

On Friday, farmers from Katrapally village under Makthal mandal opposed the Revenue department officials from conducting surveys of their lands. They raised slogans against the Congress government and demanded that the officials withdraw their plans.

Mild tension prevailed in the village outskirts after farmers argued with the officials.

They further said that until a clear announcement was made by the State government over the compensation to be paid and assurance accordingly, no survey would be permitted on their lands.
