Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister E Dayakar Rao on Monday said Telangana was first in utilisation of NREGS funds for taking up different development works. The Minister instructed Panchayat Raj Department officials to execute as many works under the scheme before March this year.
The Minister along with Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy and Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud, reviewed the progress of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development works under progress in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district.
The Minister instructed the department officials to expedite the works being taken up in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had issued specific instructions to focus on executing different development works in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district, he said.
“All the works recommended by elected public representatives should be taken up on priority. There should not be any delay in clearing contractors’ bills,” Dayakar Rao instructed the officials.
During the meeting, he said in the wake of increasing covid cases more emphasis should be laid on sanitation. Geo tagging has been synchronized with Village Secretaries and all the secretaries and officials in Mahabubnagar should work more cautiously and monitor the works regularly.
Niranjan Reddy wanted the construction of inflow regulator at the pump house of Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme. Desiltation of main canals, distributaries and minor canals should be taken up on priority under NREGS works, he said.
Srinivas Goud said as per the instructions of the Chief Minister, Koil Sagar irrigation project should be exclusively for drinking water purposes. A water tanker was constructed at the decades-old Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple atop Manyamkonda and all the waste water had to be diverted to the water body downhill. To this effect, works have to be taken up, he said, adding that the works recommended by MLCs and Zilla Parishad Chairmans should be taken up at the earliest.
