Karimnagar: A fisherman, Guvva Ravi (43), who went missing in the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) on Sunday afternoon, was found dead on Monday.

Ravi, a native of Mailaram village in Ganneruvaram mandal, had ventured into the LMD waters for fishing when the country-made boat he was sailing in overturned due to strong winds, causing him to fall into the water.

Other fishermen who witnessed the incident rushed to rescue him but were unsuccessful. Though they searched the area immediately after the incident, they could not locate him. A fresh search operation was launched on Monday morning, during which his body was recovered.

The police have registered a case and launched an investigation. The body was shifted to a government hospital for postmortem.
