Telangana: Fisherman drowns while pulling net in irrigation tank
A 55-year-old fisherman from Peddampet village drowned while pulling a fishing net in an irrigation tank near Dharmaraopet. Fellow fishermen failed to rescue him. Police later retrieved the body with the help of divers and registered a case.
Mancherial: An elderly fisherman drowned while fishing in an irrigation tank on the outskirts of Dharmaraopet village on Wednesday. Dandepalli police said that Narmala Lingaiah (55) from Peddampet village drowned while he was trying to pull a net cast for catching fish in the tank. Fellow fishermen tried to rescue him, but in vain, as he died before they could reach him. They alerted his family members, who approached the police. Local SI Tahseenuddin and his staffers went to the tank and retrieved the body using expert divers. Lingaiah is survived by a wife, son, and three sons. Based on a complaint received from Lachavva, the wife of Lingaiah, a case was registered. Investigations have been taken up.
