Adilabad: Police on Wednesday arrested a man and four of his associates for allegedly cheating the public by offering fake jobs in microfinance agencies, Anganwadi centres and government hospitals.
Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said the accused, identified as Jawade Krishna from Pune, his brother Krishna, and associates Dakure Shatrughan, Athram Narayana and Madhyavar Adinadh, had cheated around 300 people across the district. Two others, Athram Rahul and Mishram Prahlad, are absconding.
Police seized Rs 9 lakh in cash, gold ornaments weighing 10.7 tolas, five mobile phones, a premium watch and two cars from the accused.
Mahajan said Krishna admitted to committing the offences to fund a lavish lifestyle. He allegedly lured people with promises of jobs in an SK Microfinance firm he established in Utnoor mandal in 2024, as well as in other government organisations. Victims were made to join the microfinance scheme by paying Rs 20,000 each.
Sixteen cases have been registered against Krishna in different parts of the district. Mahajan said the accused used the proceeds to buy cars and gold, and urged the public to report any offences linked to him to the police.
