Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory recruits 57 new experts
The Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory inducted 57 new forensic experts to strengthen scientific investigations across the state. Officials said the recruits would enhance capabilities in DNA analysis, digital forensics and narcotics, while helping improve case disposal and forensic service delivery
Hyderabad: The Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TGFSL) received a major boost to its scientific capabilities with the induction of 57 newly recruited forensic experts, strengthening the state’s capacity to provide timely and scientific support to criminal investigations.
Director General of Police (DGP) Telangana handed over appointment orders to the newly recruited personnel at a function held at the TGFSL headquarters in Hyderabad.
Principal Secretary (Home) and Director, TGFSL, Shikha Goel, while addressing the newly recruited personnel, highlighted the laboratory’s achievements despite operating with limited scientific manpower. She said TGFSL has consistently disposed of more than 80 per cent of its case workload, with each forensic expert handling one of the highest caseloads in the country. In 2025 alone, the laboratory examined and disposed of 18,647 cases, achieving an 86 per cent disposal rate.
TGFSL has significantly enhanced its capabilities in DNA analysis, computer forensics, narcotics, toxicology and other forensic disciplines with advanced equipment and technology, particularly in response to the growing number of narcotics and digital evidence cases.
Highlighting the academic credentials of the recruits, Shikha Goel said the new batch comprises 35 PhD holders, 12 MSc graduates, five MTech graduates and three MCA graduates, whose induction will substantially strengthen the laboratory’s scientific expertise and service delivery.
Addressing the gathering, the DGP stressed the increasing importance of scientific evidence under the new criminal laws. He urged the recruits to dedicate themselves to forensic science, continually upgrade their professional skills, and ensure timely and accurate examination of evidence, particularly in sensitive and high-profile cases, without compromising quality.
The DGP also appreciated the performance of TGFSL despite manpower constraints and assured full support for strengthening its workforce, infrastructure, advanced equipment and other operational requirements.
