Former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran talking to CCI officials over phone at Raikode in Sangareddy district on Thursday.
Sangareddy: Former Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran said the closure of cotton purchasing centres across his constituency had forced hundreds of farmers to wait at the ginning mills for the last five days.
Speaking to news reporters after examining the situation at two ginning mills in Raikode, Kranthi Kiran said nearly 100 vehicles were waiting at these two ginning mills since the last five days. Farmers were forced to pay the rent of vehicles for five days which would push the farmers into serious losses, he said, adding that the Congress government had failed to purchase red gram and other crops as well.
Since officials were saying that they stopped the purchasing of cotton due to an online glitch, Kranthi Kiran demanded CCI officials to maintain the records manually until they got the issue resolved. He also asked Collector Valluru Kranthi to review the progress of cotton procurement in the district and find out an immediate solution to the issue.
