Suryapet: In a symbolic gesture, the state sarpanches association JAC on Friday submitted a petition at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Suryapet, calling for the attention of the state government to the plight of all the former sarpanches waiting for payment of their pending bills.

The former sarpanches had spent from their pockets to address civic issues and to speed up development works.

The Congress government is making them move from pillar to post for the bills and many of them were left totally broke. The former sarpanches emphasized the need for immediate payment of their pending bills.

The state had received 19 out of 20 awards for the gram panchayats development from the Central government, showcasing the state’s development. They urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the Congress government to recognize their contributions and release the funds.
