Rajanna-Sircilla: The name of former Vemulawada MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu has been removed from the electoral rolls. Revenue officials pasted a notice to this effect at his residence in Vemulawada on Thursday.
The action follows a recent High Court judgment which declared that Ramesh Babu holds German citizenship.
In 2010, then MLA Adi Srinivas filed a petition in court alleging that Ramesh Babu was elected as an MLA by obtaining Indian citizenship fraudulently. The High Court, in its latest ruling, confirmed that Ramesh Babu was a German national.
Acting on the court’s directive, officials issued a notice under Form-7, removing the former legislator’s name from the voter list, and pasted a copy of it at his house in Vemulawada.
