Telangana: Four key accused arrested in Bhoodan lands case, remanded to judicial custody
Khanapuram Haveli police have arrested four key accused in the Bhoodan lands case, bringing the total number of arrests to 16. The suspects face charges under organised crime and cheating sections, with authorities probing illicit assets in Khammam urban mandal.

Khammam: ACP (Town) SV Ramanamurthy informed that four more key accused in Bhoodan lands case were arrested by Khanapuram Haveli police.
The accused, Kalthi Ramachandraiah, Banala Lakshmana Chary, Chippanapalli Veeraiah and Kunja Krishnaiah were arrested and remanded to judicial custody for their involvement in illegal dealings and encroachments on Bhoodan and government lands at Velugumatla in Khammam urban mandal limits.
These arrests were made in connection with a case registered at Khanapuram Haveli police station under Sections 111 (1) (ii) (organised crime), 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property) read with 3(5) of BNS, he said.
The ACP noted that the prime accused in the case, Poleboyina Muthaiah, Balli Srinivas, Koppera Venkanna, Kotte Basu and Sampangi Venkatachalam were taken into police custody with the magistrate’s permission for interrogation; following their questioning, they were sent back to judicial remand.
To date, a total of sixteen accused have been arrested in Bhoodan lands case; the process to identify and seize the illicit assets of the accused is currently underway, Ramanamurthy said.
