Telangana: Free power scheme gets good response

Hyderabad: The free power scheme of upto 250 units to eligible persons from Nayi Brahmin and Rajaka communities to operate their salons and dhobi ghats respectively, is receiving good response. The officials have received 28,550 applications under the scheme including 10,637 from the members of Rajaka community and another 17,913 from from the members of Nayi Brahmin community so far.

Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar who reviewed the implementation of the scheme, at BRKR Bhavan on Thursday, directed the District Collectors and the BC Welfare Officers in all districts to conduct a special drive enabling beneficiaries to register their names for the scheme. The IT department has been instructed to facilitate the beneficiaries register their applications through the Mee Seva centres at free of cost.


Further, the authorities concerned were asked to immediately send the applications registered in CGG to the power distribution companies concerned and take steps to supply the free power to the beneficiaries at the earliest. The government already issued GO MS No. 2 on April 4 this year and specified the guidelines for implementation of the scheme.

Principal Secretary for Finance K Ramakrishna Rao, BC Welfare Secretary Rahul Bojja, Energy and Panchayat Raj Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development commissioner Raghunandan Rao, TSSPDCL chairman and managing director Raghumareddy and other officials, attended the meeting.
