11-year-old girl drowns while trying to rescue pet in Telangana’s Karimnagar
Mairala Srinidhi, who was rushed to a private hospital in the district, was declared brought dead
KARIMNAGAR: In a tragic incident, a 11-year-old girl drowned in a water tank while trying to rescue her pet dog in Simhadri Colony of Rekurthy, Kothapalli mandal, on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Saturday.
According to villagers, Mairala Srinidhi took her pet dog near Pentakamma Cheruvu. While playing in the open area near the water body, the dog got into the water and drowned. Noticing her pet drowning, Srinidhi rushed in and tried to rescue the dog. However, while trying to pull the pet out of the water, she slipped and fell into the water body and drowned.
Two youngsters, present at the spot, got into the water and tried to rescue her. However, the girl had already swallowed a lot of water and fell unconscious. Family members rushed her to a private hospital in Karimnagar where she was declared brought dead.
Based on a complaint from the family, police registered a case and are investigating.
