Hyderabad: Telangana government is aiming to make the State a hub for cyber security services and cyber warriors for the country and to enable this, a cyber legislation is being drafted, which is the first such effort by any State in India.

Speaking at the inauguration of Cotelligent’s Cyber Warrior Centre of Excellence at Hyderabad on Friday, Minister for IT, Government of Telangana, KT Rama Rao said, “We are drafting a legislation along with NALSAR on cyber crime. I urge Cotelligent founder Srikiran Patibandla and his team to actively participate and provide critical inputs to help the State government in preparing an effective legislation that will be the first in the country.”

On emerging threats, KTR said, “Due to Covid, we are forced to adapt digital work culture, which further increases the risk of cyberattacks. We need an ecosystem to safeguard us from cyber threats in the present and future environments. The next-generation wars will not happen physically but will take place in the digital world. In view of the future concerns, we need to put our efforts into making efficient cyber warriors to effectively counter and protect from cyberattacks.”

Telangana Government is committed to creating an ecosystem in the State for cyber security to make the State a hub for cyber innovations in the country. The State, backed by TASK, has taken up several capacity building programmes to ensure there is an adequate talent pool for the future.

The State continues to attract major companies from across sectors including cyber security through initiatives such as the TS-iPASS, by offering incentives to industry, which is further enabling new job creation for the thinkforce/workforce India has.
