Telangana government forms expert panel to probe Sigachi accident
Four-member expert panel, headed by Emeritus Scientist of CSIR-IICT Dr B Venkateswar Rao, to identify the causes of the mishap, assess compliance with safety protocols

Hyderabad: The State government has constituted an expert committee to investigate the devastating accident that occurred on Monday at the Sigachi Industries Limited in Pashamylaram of Sangareddy district, claiming lives of over 40 workers and leaving several injured.
The unit was engaged in the production of Microcrystalline Cellulose powder, a key binding agent used in pharmaceutical tablets and capsules.
The four-member expert panel, chaired by Dr B Venkateswar Rao, Emeritus Scientist of CSIR-IICT, has been tasked with identifying the causes of the mishap, assessing compliance with safety protocols and recommending measures to prevent such tragedies in the future. The committee includes senior scientists from CSIR institutions in Hyderabad and Pune.
The committee has been directed to submit a detailed report, including specific recommendations, within one month. The Director of Factories will assist the panel during the investigation.
