Hyderabad: In a major decision, the State government has scrapped the grading system for the SSC Public Examinations, starting academic year 2024-25.

Students will be awarded 100 per cent of the marks considering their external assessment without taking their internal assessment into the count. Currently, external exams are conducted for 80 marks and internal assessments tests are held for 20 marks.

The government also scrapped the continuous and comprehensive evaluation system that assess overall development of students at schools.

Principal Secretary to Government (Education department), Burra Venkatesham on Thursday issued a memo permitting the new pattern for SSC Public Examinations.

“After careful examination of the matter reported by the School Education director, permission is accorded to director to follow the new pattern of SSC Public Exams by awarding marks system, duly dispensing the existing grading system and also awarding 100 per cent marks to external assessments without any marks for internal assessments from the academic year 2024-25,” the memo read.

School Education director EV Narasimha Reddy was directed to take further necessary action in the matter.
