Telangana government approves ticket price hike for Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’

The move appears to be the outcome of ace producer Dil Raju's meeting with CM Revanth Reddy with a request to consider price hike of tickets for two movies — 'Game Changer' and 'Sankranthiki Vasthunnam' — set to release as part of the Sankranthi festival offering

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has permitted the filmmakers of Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer to hike the ticket prices for the movie slated for a worldwide release on January 10.

In a GO issued on Wednesday, the government also allowed additional screenings of the movie. However, it has rejected the request for screening a benefit show at 1 am with enhanced rates.

According to the GO, six shows can be screened on Friday (January 10), including an extra show at 4 am, with an additional amount of Rs 150 at multiplex theatres and additional Rs 100 at single-screen theatres.

From January 11-19, five shows can be screened with an additional Rs 100 on the ticket price for multiplex theatres and additional Rs 50 for single-screen theatres. The hiked charges will be inclusive of GST, the order stated.

With this, the government has taken a complete U-turn from its earlier decision in December 2024, following the death of a woman in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre, to not allow any ticket price hikes or premiere shows in Telangana.

The move appears to be the outcome of ace producer Dil Raju’s meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with a request to consider price hike of tickets for two movies — Game Changer and Sankranthiki Vasthunnam — which are set to release as part of the festival offering.

The Telangana government’s decision to approve the hike of ticket prices for Game Changer will surely bring huge relief to Telugu filmmakers whose production costs and film budgets run into crores.
